Our Services
Medical Nutrition Therapy
Innovative Health offers therapy and counseling services in sessions ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on each client’s needs and budget. These sessions are with a registered dietitian and nutritionist who counsels patients on how to manage disease and promote health. The dietitian and nutritionist will provide advice about what patients should eat in order to lead a healthier lifestyle or in order to meet a specific goal. Sessions are personalized for each patient to help them best meet their goals.
GI-MAP Stool Testing
The health of your gut can impact the health of your overall body. The GI-MAP stool test uses qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) technology to examine stools sent by the client directly to the lab for bacteria, fungi, parasites, and other organisms that can reside in the gut. The tests work by looking specifically for the DNA of each type of organism. In addition, the GI-MAP stool test is an advanced metabolic test for digestion and absorption, immune function, and inflammation. We look at what the results of the test indicate per clients’ gut health and how it may affect their health overall. We then recommend a course of treatment depending on the type of organism or metabolic dysfunction found to be present in the test. Treatment focuses on restoring balance to the microbiome as well as addressing metabolic imbalances that can cause maldigestion and inflammation.
Mediator Release Testing (MRT)
Clients are sent to a lab for a blood draw, which is then sent on to a testing facility. This test involves determining which foods and food chemicals a client is sensitive to. Once we know what foods you may be sensitive to, we can develop an appropriate diet that will help alleviate any health conditions that may be either caused or exacerbated by the food sensitivity.
SIBO Breath Testing
Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when bacteria accumulate in the small intestine. These bacteria normally live in the gastrointestinal tract, but become problematic when these bacteria become overgrown in a location not meant for so much bacteria. Patients who have SIBO develop symptoms that can include nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, belching, gas, malnutrition, body pain, malnutrition, food sensitivities, skin issues, and headaches. SIBO breath testing involves one-day diet preparation ahead of time. The breath test itself takes 3 hours and is performed the next morning after drinking a sugar solution. The test involves collecting breath samples in order to measure the gas produced by the bacteria, which respond to the sugar solution. Medical nutrition therapy is then based on the type and amount of gases that were reported by the test.
Micronutrient Testing
We can also send a blood sample to a specialty lab for micronutrient testing. This test examines white blood cells and measures the functions of 35 different micronutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids within them. This test can provide an accurate analysis of any deficiencies in the body.
Environmental Health Education
We’ll teach you how to minimize or avoid exposure to toxins that can be found in what you eat, cook with, and cleaning and personal care products. Eliminating environmental triggers that can affect health just as much as nutrition can go a long way toward achieving your optimal health.
Group Nutrition Education
We offer group courses in functional nutrition to reinforce basic or essential nutrition and health-related knowledge. These sessions will be less personalized and will be conducted in a group setting with other patients.
Nutrigenomix Genetic Testing
The Nutrigenomix test is a genetic test that analyses the client’s genes to determine the optimal diet for that person. There are four types of Nutrigenomix genetic tests: health, plant-based, sports, and fertility. We recommend a diet for the client based on the results of the test so that the client can eat for their optimal health, nutrient focus, sports performance, or fertility.
